About Dr. David Greenbaum

Dr. Greenbaum, MD FACS, is one of the most experienced bariatric surgeons on the East Coast. He has been practicing bariatric surgery for over 20 years and has performed well over 1000 procedures. His experience includes performing vertical banded gastroplasties, roux-en-y gastric bypass (RYGBP), laparoscopic RYGBP, Duodenal Switch (DS), Laparoscopic DS, and Revisional surgery for failed prior weight loss operations to the DS.
He graduated from The Johns Hopkins University in 1976 and The University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in 1980. He performed his Surgical Training at The Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia. He has been an active member of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) for over 10 years and has been a chairman as well as serving on many of the society’s committees. He started the bariatric program at Lourdes Medical Center of Burlington County, which has become a Center of Excellence by the Surgical Review Committee and the ASMBS.
In 2006 he spent 6 months working with Drs. John and Robert Rabkin in San Francisco, who are two of the worlds experts in DS surgery, learning their technique. He has brought this knowledge back to the East Coast where he is one of the few surgeons in the Northeast who perform this complex procedure.
Since returning to Surgical Specialists of New Jersey, Rancocas Division and South Jersey Bariatrics, his preferred operation for weight loss is the duodenal switch because it allows you to eat more normally with the best weight loss of all of the weight loss operations.
